Import troubleshooting
Fix a nonnumeric Shopify inventory quantity
An inventory count must come from your stock records. A validator can identify an invalid value; it cannot decide how many units you have.
Documented error
Inventory quantity is not a number
Check the source count
Values such as "twelve", "12 units", or "about 12" mix the count with interpretation. A comma in "1,200" may mean a thousands separator or a decimal in a different source system. Ask for the original number rather than deleting punctuation blindly.
- Filter the findings to inventory quantity.
- Match the row to the correct SKU and option combination.
- Consult the inventory record for the intended location.
- Enter the confirmed count without descriptive words, then revalidate.
Keep the inventory workflow explicit
Check whether this is the correct file for your inventory task before importing. Product content and location-level inventory are different concerns. Changing the tracking field merely to remove a validation message can change store behavior.
Worked example
Synthetic stock record, after the merchant confirms 12 units
URL handle,Title,SKU,Inventory quantity
linen-apron,Linen apron,00042,12 unitsURL handle,Title,SKU,Inventory quantity
linen-apron,Linen apron,00042,12This is a review-required change. The number is supplied by the merchant, not inferred by Golanto.
What this check cannot establish
Golanto does not connect to stock records or validate location assignments. A successful numeric check does not establish that the count is accurate.
