Fill the About You category Excel you just generated

About You’s English Seller Center docs say you generate an Excel template for the categories you select, fill it, and upload it. Every product needs a valid EAN. The create-products page says each row on List Your Products Here is one variant, a size plus a colour way, and that a style key groups rows under one product master. The same docs generate a different workbook for stock and price. They do not publish one header for every category or every country.

Which About You workbook creates the product?

Import Products via Excel starts at Import Products in the left navigation. Choose Import Products for new products, or Import Stock & Price when you only want to change stock and prices. The product import has three steps: select one or more categories, generate one Excel template per category, then download, fill, and upload. Several files go up as one ZIP. The create-products page says each generated template has three worksheets, Help, Product Feature Information, and List Your Products Here, and then it also describes a Material Compositions sheet. Help holds FAQs and attribute notes for that category. Product Feature Information lists attributes that need a specific selection. List Your Products Here is the product data. If you sell in more than one country, the page says you can duplicate rows and change the country-specific prices.

On an update, a filled cell replaces what Seller Center already stores for that variant, including products that arrived through Shopify. A field left blank deletes the stored value. The page’s example is Material Information. Images are the exception: blank image columns do not delete images already in the system. A file that contains only some EANs leaves the missing variants and product masters as they are. After upload, valid rows are created even when other rows have errors. Seller Center gives a downloadable report of the problem rows. The page says you can fix those rows and upload them again. It does not name the report’s columns. Products publish automatically, skipping Draft, when mandatory attributes are complete and valid images are present, either as URLs in the file or already added in the UI. Missing images leave the product in Draft.

How do the material pages say to write a composition?

The material guide says every product needs a material composition, and that each category has its own Excel template. Shoes need three clusters: outer material, inner material, and sole material. Lined jackets need outer material and inner material. Lined bags and backpacks need at least two clusters, and percentage values are not added for non-textile categories. Other accessories need the material, and percentages are generally not required. Allowed materials are on the Product Feature Information tab. The guide points to Column D for Material Composition Clusters and Column E for Material Composition Materials, and it says to use the exact spelling. It also says the column letter may vary slightly by category. If you use Other material, it should not exceed 15 percent of the composition where percentages are required.

The material guide’s primary cell is Material Composition (1797) (Textile) or Material Composition (1952) (Non-Textile). It offers Column T or U on List Your Products Here as an example, and it says the letter can vary. Its textile pattern puts each cluster on a new line inside the same cell, with materials and percentages. The example it prints is “Material: Textile=70; Polyester=20; Polyester=10;” and “Lining: Silk=100”. Its non-textile example is “Material: Leather; Gold”. The create-products page describes a different layout on the Material Compositions sheet: a Key you invent, which it exemplifies as BAG_LEATHER_01, pasted into the Material Composition (Textile) column; Cluster Name (1), (2), or (3); and Material Name and Fraction columns, using .2 or .3 only for a blend. Fractions in one cluster must total 100 percent. A single-material part uses the .1 cells, Material Name and 100, and leaves .2 and .3 blank. Follow the workbook you generated. The two pages do not say these layouts are interchangeable.

How do you map a supplier file without mixing in the stock workbook?

  1. In Seller Center, generate the template for the category you are listing and download that file. Keep the stock and price workbook for a later upload. The stock page builds it from Products, then Import Products, then Import Stock & Price.
  2. In Golanto, choose About You. Record the category and the date you generated the template. The mapper still opens on Amazon until you change the platform.
  3. Map your values onto the headers in the generated workbook. Put each size and colour way on its own row. Use the style key from that file to group rows. Duplicate a row when the same variant needs a price for another country.
  4. On an update, leave a cell blank only when you intend to clear that stored value. Leave image columns blank when you want the existing images to stay.
  5. Enter materials in the form that workbook uses. The material guide’s inline example and the Material Compositions sheet are both printed in these docs. The sheet you downloaded decides which one you fill. Then upload. If you generated more than one category file, compress them into one ZIP.

Worked example

A supplier row is not an About You category template

Inspect this record
sku,title,price,material
BAG-1,Leather tote,89.00,Leather

These headings are a synthetic supplier sketch. The create-products page does not print the template header. It says each row is one size and colour way, a style key groups the product master, and an EAN is mandatory. BAG_LEATHER_01 is that page’s example of a material Key, not a SKU to copy. The material guide’s “Material: Leather; Gold” is its non-textile example. A blank material cell on update deletes the composition already stored. A blank image column does not delete stored images.

What this check cannot establish

Golanto does not sign in to About You Seller Center, generate the category template, or read the error report’s columns. This page uses the create-products, product-material, and manage-stock-and-prices guides retrieved on 2 November 2026. The create-products page says the template has three worksheets and then also describes Material Compositions. The material guide and the create-products page describe material entry in different layouts, so this page does not merge them into one set of columns. Column letters are the guides’ examples, and the material guide says the letter may vary by category. The stock workbook’s sheets are Help, Manage Stock, and Manage Prices. Manage Stock lists each variant once, for all countries. Manage Prices lists each variant and country. The currency note’s examples are DKK and SEK. The guides do not name a shop domain or a single global header. Deletion is allowed only when the variant has no recorded sales, and the page says an Active or Pending Active product must be deactivated first. Directly deletable statuses on that page are Draft, Pending Approval, Rejected, Inactive, and Needs Input.

Common questions

What happens if I leave an About You Excel cell blank?

On an update, the create-products page says a blank field deletes the value already stored for that variant. Its example is Material Information. Images are the exception: blank image columns do not delete images already in Seller Center. A file that includes only some EANs leaves every missing variant untouched.

Is the About You stock file the same workbook as the category template?

The docs describe two downloads. Import Products generates one product template per category. Import Stock & Price generates a workbook of the products already in Seller Center, with Manage Stock and Manage Prices. You can leave Manage Stock untouched, or remove that sheet, when you are only changing prices. Country-specific prices belong on the sheet the file you downloaded uses.
