Fill a Walmart full-setup spreadsheet

Walmart’s full-setup guide is for catalog items that are not currently offered on Walmart.com. Seller Center builds the spreadsheet after you choose fulfillment and product types. You fill that file. Matching an item Walmart already sells is a different flow.

What spreadsheet does Walmart build for new items?

It is the file from Catalog, Add items, Upload in bulk, then Build spreadsheet under New items. You choose one or both fulfillment types, then add product types by search or by browsing categories. Walmart says you can save up to 10 of those selections. The US full-setup guide reviewed here was last updated on 24 September 2026.

Which values does the full-setup guide require?

Fill Spec Product Type before the other columns. Walmart says that column decides which closed lists the rest of the sheet can show. SKU is required. Product ID has to follow the product-identifier policy for GTIN, UPC, ISBN, or EAN. A product with no GTIN uses the word CUSTOM in Product ID, which asks Walmart to process an exemption. Country of Origin is mandatory for Walmart-fulfilled and seller-fulfilled item creation. If it is missing, Seller Center shows an error in the Activity Feed.

The sheet also has sections Walmart names Required for the item to be visible on Walmart.com, Conditionally Required based on Product Type, and recommended sections for search and for variants. Conditional cells appear when the download includes two or more product types. Grey cells in that section are not required. A cell marked with a plus sign can gain another column by copying that column and inserting the copied cells. That is the addition Walmart describes. It is not a reason to paste a supplier header into the sheet.

How do you map a supplier file onto that spreadsheet?

  1. In Seller Center, build and save the spreadsheet for the product types you will list. Record the download date.
  2. In Golanto, choose Walmart and enter the market, the product types, and that date.
  3. Map your columns onto SKU, Product ID, and Country of Origin. Leave Spec Product Type for the closed list in the Walmart file.
  4. Do not change the first six rows or the tab names. Walmart says either change leads to data errors.
  5. Upload the file from Add items, Upload in bulk, and read the Activity Feed. Walmart says updates can take up to 24 hours.

Worked example

A supplier barcode is not yet a Walmart Product ID

Keep the barcode as text so a spreadsheet does not drop the leading zero. The product type and the allowed Country of Origin values come from the spreadsheet Walmart built. Type CUSTOM in Product ID only when you mean to request a GTIN exemption.

What this check cannot establish

Golanto does not log in to Walmart, choose product types, or file a GTIN exemption. This page uses the US full-setup guide and the US upload guide, reviewed on 1 November 2026. The full-setup page does not state a file-size cap. A different Walmart page, for uploading a spreadsheet from another marketplace, says one Excel file at a time and no more than 5 MB, and that Walmart may convert that file. Do not treat that conversion as the same task as filling the full-setup template. Canada’s item setup is a separate guide. Activity Feed status is not something Golanto can see.

Common questions

Can this Walmart spreadsheet add an item Walmart already sells?

No. The US full-setup guide is for items that are not currently offered on Walmart.com. Products already listed on Walmart.com use the Match items spreadsheet, which is a different download.

Can I edit the top of a Walmart full-setup file?

No. Walmart says modifying the data in the first six rows, or changing tab names, leads to data errors. Fill Spec Product Type before the other columns so the closed lists appear.
