Create Jumia Ghana products from a category template
Jumia Ghana’s Vendor Hub says you create products by downloading the Excel template for one category in Vendor Center and filling every mandatory field that template marks. An update of a product that already exists starts from an export that contains the SID, not from that blank template.
Which file creates a product on Jumia Ghana?
Choose the shop in Vendor Center. From Products, then Manage Products, choose Import / Export. Set the type to Product and the action to Download template, then download the template for the category you will use. The creation article says you will not be able to change the category in a different attribute after creation, so choose the category and attribute on that template carefully. Fill every mandatory field that sheet marks. The article says missing a mandatory aspect makes creation fail. Review the sheet before you upload. The same article says you will not be able to delete anything once it is created.
The creation article says Vendor Center does not accept images except as links, and that those links have to be on the creation sheet or the sheet will not be uploaded. It names one public image host. This page does not adopt that host. The requirement it states is a link on the sheet, not an image file pasted into the workbook.
Which export do you need before an update?
A product update starts with an export, because the creation article says you need the SID from Vendor Center. Use Import/Export, Product, Export Product, choose the date range and the attribute, edit that file, then upload it with Import/Export, Product, Update product. Price and stock are a separate pair. Export them from Import/Export, Price/stock, Export, for a date range, then import the edited file from Import/Export, Price/Stock, Import. The creation article says that price and stock export is also how you get the SID for that update. A blank creation template is the wrong file for either edit.
The creation article writes SID and does not spell it out. It also does not name the columns in the category template. Those headers have to come from the file you downloaded.
How do you upload the creation file and read the result?
- In the Ghana shop, download the category template. Record the category and the download date.
- In Golanto, choose Jumia. Record Ghana, the category, and that the file is the creation template rather than a product export or a price and stock export.
- Map your values onto the headers in that downloaded sheet. Fill every cell the sheet marks as mandatory. Leave the category as the template’s category.
- Put image links on the creation sheet. The Ghana article says a creation sheet without those links is not uploaded.
- Upload from Import / Export with type Product and action Create Product, and drop the file in.
- Open import history. In progress means the file is still processing. Failed means the file has errors to download and check. Finished means the upload succeeded. The status article says a file-upload error report is in that import history, and that quality check comes after a request is submitted. A submitted change may take up to several days to show on the app and website. Until it is approved, what customers see can differ from Manage products.
- To export rejection reasons for products already in the catalog, use Import/export, type Product, action Export products, filter status Rejected, and choose the category. The status article says the reasons are in the last column on the right. It does not name that column.
Worked example
A supplier image file is not a Jumia creation-sheet link
sku,name,image_file
MUG-04,Travel mug, mug.jpgThese headings are a supplier sketch. The Ghana creation article does not name the columns in the category template. It does say the creation sheet needs image links, and that a sheet without them is not uploaded. Map onto the headers in the template you downloaded. A product that already has an SID belongs on an export, not on this blank file.
What this check cannot establish
Golanto does not log in to Vendor Center, choose the category, or host images. This page uses two Jumia Vendor Hub Ghana articles reviewed on 1 November 2026: Create Your Products, and Product creation/update status. It does not describe Vendor Hub pages for Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, or any other Jumia country. Those articles do not name the template columns, spell out SID, or name the rejection column. Import-history statuses on the creation article are In progress, Failed, and Finished. Quality-check statuses on the status article are pending QC, approved, and rejected. Green and red icons on the product grid are how that article says you open QC status. They are not a color legend for the spreadsheet. The creation article names one public image host. This page does not adopt that host.

Common questions
Can I update a Jumia Ghana product with the blank category template?
No. The creation article says a product update starts by exporting from Vendor Center so the file contains the SID. Price and stock use a separate price and stock export and import.
What does Failed mean in Jumia import history?
The creation article says Failed means the file has errors, which need to be downloaded and checked. Finished means the upload succeeded. In progress means it is still processing. A quality-check rejection is a later status on the product. The status article says you can export rejected products, with the reasons in the last column on the right.
