Import products into Squarespace Commerce with a CSV
Squarespace Commerce adds physical and service products from the CSV template in the Products panel. The help article says the columns depend on whether the receiving site is version 7.1 or 7.0, and that this import does not keep syncing with the original file.
Which Squarespace file is the new-product CSV?
In the Products panel, click Import, then Download CSV template, when the products come from another platform or you are creating new products. Moving products between Squarespace sites, or bulk-editing products already on a site, starts from Export all instead. Those are different downloads. The article says you can import up to 10,000 products on a version 7.1 site and up to 200 on a version 7.0 site, and up to 250 variants per product in either version. Importing products is available on the Basic, Core, Plus, Advanced, Business, Commerce Basic, and Commerce Advanced plans.
The same article says you can import physical and service products only. You cannot import download products, customers, or customer subscriptions, and you cannot schedule a product with the import. You can publish or hide it. A product priced over 1,000,000 in any currency cannot be imported.
What does the import-from-another-platform table require?
Both version tables say to leave Product ID and Variant ID blank for this import. Product Type is required: enter Physical or Service, and only on the first row when the product has options. Product URL and Title are required, and only on that first row. Product URL is 3 to 200 characters, words separated with dashes, with no spaces or special characters other than dashes. Capital letters become lowercase on the site. Title is up to 200 characters. Visible is required: Yes or No, and only on the first row. The version 7.1 table also requires Product Page and Categories. Product Page is the store page URL slug without the leading slash, and that store page has to exist. Categories are existing category URL slugs, including the leading slash, lowercase, up to 25 characters each, separated by commas. The article’s examples are /clothing and /clothing/blouses. The version 7.0 table makes Product Page and Categories optional. A blank Product Page on that table creates a new, not-linked store page. If you do enter a slug, it has to match a store page already on the site.
Price, Sale Price, On Sale, Stock, SKU, Description, Tags, Option Names 1-3, Option Values 1-3, Weight, Length, Width, Height, and Hosted Image URL are optional in both of those tables. Price uses numbers and a decimal point, with at most two decimal places. The article’s example rounds 10.513 to 10.51. A sale price has to be lower than the listed price, and On Sale is Yes or No. Stock is a number, or the word unlimited. A blank SKU is filled in by Squarespace, and a SKU is at most 60 characters. Tags are separated by commas, at most 80 characters each, and only on the first row. Each pair of Option Name # and Option Value # creates a variant, and each combination is its own row. Hosted Image URL is a full link that ends in an image extension such as .jpg, .gif, or .png. Several images are separated with spaces or line breaks. The file cannot assign variant images, and it cannot take an image from your hard drive. The sentence above the tables says Product Page and Category. The column in both tables is Categories.

,,Physical,shop,travel-mug,Travel mug,/mugs,YesHow do you upload the Squarespace CSV?
- Download the CSV template from the Products panel on the site that will receive the products. Record whether that site is version 7.1 or 7.0, and the date. Keep a copy of the template.
- In Golanto, choose Squarespace Commerce and record the site and that date. Map your values onto the headers in the template you downloaded. Do not add a column, and do not delete the Product ID column.
- For products that are not already on this site, leave Product ID and Variant ID blank, as the import-from-another-platform tables say. On version 7.1, fill Product Type, Product Page, Product URL, Title, Categories, and Visible on the first row of each product. On version 7.0, Product Page and Categories are optional in that table.
- In the Products panel, click Import and drop the file into Upload Squarespace CSV. Uncheck Update product quantities only when you do not want the spreadsheet to change stock. Review the results, correct the file, and import it again if the review lists errors. Click Save after that review.
- Product page not found means the Product Page slug is not a store page on the receiving site. Categories not assigned means a category in the file is not already on the site. Missing column. Add product ID column means the Product ID column is missing or an extra row sits above the header.
Worked example
A supplier category name is not a Squarespace category slug
sku,name,price,category
MUG-04,Travel mug,18.00,KitchenThese headings are a supplier sketch. The version 7.1 import table uses Categories for a URL slug that already exists, including the slash, as in the article’s /clothing example. The /mugs value in the mapped sketch stands for a slug that already exists on that site. shop stands for a store page URL slug without the slash. Product ID and Variant ID stay blank on this new import. Price is optional and uses a decimal point. The article lists Option Names 1-3 and Option Values 1-3 as the option columns in this table. It does not spell a separate header for each number. Copy the header row from the template you downloaded.
What this check cannot establish
Golanto does not import into Squarespace or create store pages and categories. This page uses the Squarespace article “Importing products from a .csv,” last updated October 28, 2026, retrieved on 1 November 2026. The version 7.1 tab is the first table under Import products from a different platform, and the version 7.0 tab is the second. It does not copy the move-between-sites or bulk-edit tables. Those sections disagree about Product ID: this import says leave Product ID and Variant ID blank, the bulk-edit section says not to edit existing values, and the troubleshooting section says cell 1A reads Product ID [Non Editable] and cell 2A contains a product ID. Keep the header from the downloaded template. The move-between-sites tables label the option columns Option names 1-3 and Option values 1-3, and they include GTIN and MPN. Those two columns are not in the import-from-another-platform tables, so this page does not add them. The description row in the import tables also says to add the title on the first product row. The title limit is in the Title row. Weight, Length, Width, Height is one row in the table. This page does not split it into four header names. The import is one-time. Featured images and variant images are set later, in Squarespace.

Common questions
Can I add my old store’s columns to the Squarespace CSV template?
No. Download the template from the Products panel and keep its header row. The troubleshooting section says a missing Product ID column, or an extra row above the header, produces the message Missing column. Add product ID column. Map your values into the columns that template already has.
Does a Squarespace bulk edit use the same blank Product ID rule?
No. Bulk editing starts from Export all, and that section says not to edit Product ID or Variant ID. The blank Product ID and Variant ID instruction is in the import-from-another-platform tables, for products you are adding. Moving products between Squarespace sites is a third case: that section says to blank the cells under Product ID and Variant ID before importing into the other site.
