Import products into Wix Stores with a CSV

Wix Stores imports products from the CSV template you download in the site dashboard. The article reviewed here says not to add columns, not to delete columns, and not to edit column names. A product row needs handleId, name, fieldType, and price.

Where do you get the Wix Stores CSV template?

Open the Store Products tab, click More Actions, click Import, then click Download CSV File. Choose the blank Wix CSV template when the products come from another store. Choose the Wix CSV that already contains your products when you are updating products in this store. The downloaded file includes 3 sample products, and 2 of those have variants. Wix says Mac users should open it with Numbers or Excel version 15 or higher, and save it as CSV (Comma delimited).

To move products from another platform, export them there first, then start with this template. To move products from another Wix store, export them on that site and continue from the step where you add products to the file. The article points elsewhere for exporting and importing inside the same store.

Which values does the Wix article say the template needs?

The checklist says each product needs handleId, name, fieldType, and price, and each variant needs handleId, fieldType, and optionChoices. The field table says fieldType must be Product or Variant. Name is mandatory for products, left blank for variants, and limited to 80 characters. Price is mandatory for products, left blank for variants, and is a positive number or zero, with no more than 9 digits and no more than 2 digits after the decimal point. Variants of a product use that product’s handleId.

The same table says productOptionType must be COLOR or DROP_DOWN and is case sensitive. It also names productOptionName and productOptionDescription. In a product row, product option descriptions are separated by a semicolon. Collection names are separated by a semicolon, and the article says not to include the All products collection. If you are unsure about a non-mandatory field, leave it blank. visible must be TRUE or FALSE and is case sensitive; a blank visible cell is marked TRUE. inventory must be InStock, OutOfStock, or a number; a blank inventory cell is marked InStock. Do not add a column from another platform that the Wix template does not have.

How do you upload the Wix CSV?

  1. Delete the sample rows, or leave them and delete the sample products after the import. Save the file as CSV.
  2. In Golanto, choose Wix Stores and record the site and the date you downloaded the template. Map your values onto the template headers. Leave the column names as Wix wrote them.
  3. On Store Products, click More Actions, Import, then Upload CSV File. Upload the file and click Continue.
  4. Read the import review. If nothing is in error, click Import Products. If some rows have errors, click View Errors before you decide. You can correct the file and upload it, or import as it is. Wix says that importing without those corrections imports only the products that have no errors.
  5. Afterward, filter Store Products by Last imported. Wix says product images may take up to one hour when there are many products.

Worked example

A supplier color list is not a new Wix column

Inspect this record
sku,title,price,colors
MUG-04,Travel mug,18.00,"Red;Blue"

These headings are a supplier sketch. Wix says not to add, delete, or rename columns. Put the product on a row whose fieldType is Product, with handleId, name, and price filled in. A variant row needs the same handleId and a fieldType of Variant. The checklist also says a variant needs optionChoices, while the field table names productOptionName, productOptionType, and productOptionDescription. Use the column that is actually in the template you downloaded. Leave name and price blank on a variant row.

What this check cannot establish

Golanto does not import into Wix or host product images. This page uses the Wix Stores article “Importing products to Wix Stores,” retrieved on 1 November 2026. It states the checklist and the field-table rules above. It does not copy every column in that table, and it does not quote the separate error-message article. The checklist names optionChoices for a variant, and the field table names the product-option columns; this page does not merge those into one column. Image URLs on a deleted store will not load. The accepted formats named on the page are .jpg, png, and gif, with at most 15 images or GIFs per product, separated by semicolons with no space after the semicolon. You can leave images blank and upload them in Wix after import. Prices appear in the Wix store’s currency.

Common questions

Can I add my old store’s columns to the Wix CSV template?

No. The Wix article says not to add or delete columns, not to edit column names, and not to add fields from another platform that are not in the Wix template. Leave a non-mandatory field blank when you are unsure, and edit the product in Wix later.

What happens to a price when the old store used a different currency?

Wix says imported prices appear in the currency set in the Wix store. The article’s example is a product priced at 50 Euros, which becomes $50 when the Wix store currency is USD.
