Import a catalog into Houzz Pro My Items
Houzz Pro imports a catalog from an Excel or CSV file into My Items, the library used for estimates, proposals, and invoices, and each entry must map at least Name and Item Type. This is the English Houzz Pro help article. It does not name a country, and it is not a Houzz Shop marketplace listing file.
Where does the Houzz Pro catalog file go?
Open My Items under Library in the Company menu, then click Import at the top right. Download Template in that window. The download is a CSV of the available item fields. Fill that template, or copy its formatting onto your own file. Save the finished file as CSV or Excel. The article says only those file types upload, and one file supports at most 500 entries. The article's opening describes importing hundreds of line items; the file limit stated in the tips is 500.
After a successful import, the items appear in the library. You can open an item to add or edit details, including up to 5 images per product. The article places those images on the item after import. It does not say they are columns in the CSV.
Which fields does the Houzz Pro article say to map?
On the next screen, match your columns to Houzz Pro fields. Only mapped columns are imported. The FAQ says the only required mappings are Name and Item Type. It strongly suggests Category so items are easier to find. Choose Ignore for a column you are not importing. You cannot add your own destination fields. The dropdown is the list, and the article says those fields depend on the kind of item, such as products or services. It does not print the allowed Item Type values or the rest of the template headers.
The opening of the article says the import brings items in with their pricing and any other information you added. It does not name a price column. Use the price field only when that field is in the dropdown for the file you have open.
Accepted files: Excel or CSV
Required mappings: Name, Item Type
Suggested mapping: Category
Maximum entries in one file: 500How do you upload the Houzz Pro file?
- Download the current CSV template from My Items on the Houzz Pro account you are importing into. In Golanto, choose Houzz Pro and record the date of that download.
- On the Houzz mapping screen, match your columns to the dropdown. Map Name and Item Type for each entry. Choose Ignore for a column you are not importing. You cannot add a destination that is not in that dropdown.
- Save as CSV or Excel. In the import window, browse to the file or drag it in. Read the message that says how many lines were detected, then click Next.
- Review the mapping and click Import. The confirmation says how many records succeeded. Click Done to return to My Items.
- If a warning appears, use the message on that screen. The article says an Excel file linked from the warning explains a mapping error. Examples it gives are an empty file, a file that was already imported, empty cells, invalid values, and no column mapped to Name. To duplicate a catalog already imported, the article says to upload that file again.
Worked example
A supplier finish column is not a new Houzz Pro field
sku,title,price,finish
LAMP-12,Ceramic table lamp,64.00,SandThese headings are a supplier sketch. The Houzz Pro article does not print the template headers. Map the product title to Name, and fill Item Type with a value the import dropdown accepts. Category is suggested. Choose Ignore for a column that is not in that dropdown. Do not invent a destination for finish. This file fills the My Items library used for estimates, proposals, and invoices. It does not create a Houzz Shop listing.
What this check cannot establish
Golanto does not import into Houzz Pro or decide Item Type. This page uses the English Houzz Pro article How to Import Your Own Catalog of Items, retrieved on 1 November 2026. That article names Name, Item Type, and Category. It does not list every template column, the allowed Item Type values, or every warning. The warning examples it gives are an empty file, a file already imported, empty cells, invalid values, and no column mapped to Name, and it points to an Excel file on the warning for the rest. Images, up to 5 per product, are added on the item after import. Houzz Shop vendor product data is a different workflow, and this article does not describe it. The article does not name a country, so this page is not a country variant.

Common questions
Do I have to map every column in a Houzz Pro catalog file?
No. The help article says the only required mappings are Name and Item Type. It suggests Category. Choose Ignore for a column you are not importing. You cannot add your own destination fields. The mapping dropdown is the list, and the article says those fields are tailored to the type of item, such as products or services.
What should I do with a Houzz Pro import warning?
Read the warning on the import screen, then fix the file and upload it again. The article says an Excel file linked from the warning explains a mapping error. Examples it gives are an empty file, a file that was already imported, empty cells, invalid values, and no column mapped to Name. Uploading the same file again is how the article says you duplicate a catalog.
